Sky map of the constellation of Sagittarius

SAGITTARIUS

Sagittarius is one of the constellations of the zodiac and is located in the southern celestial hemisphere. One of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy, it remains one of the 88 modern constellations.

The astronomical symbol for this constellation is ♐︎, and its name is Latin for “Archer.” It is commonly represented as a centaur drawing a bow. The center of the Milky Way lies in its westernmost corner, making it easier to spot in the night sky.

On the EartHeaven Calendar…

Along its annual ecliptic path, the Sun enters Sagittarius on the first day of January (the 11th month on the EHc). This is because the EartHeaven calendar has been adjusted and realigned to reflect contemporary Geo-Astro-Solar realities. It falls within the Season of Spades/earth, the fourth quarter (weeks 40-52) of the EHc solar year (comprising December/Scorpius, January/Sagittarius, February/Capricornus). ✨
