A star chart of the constellation Virgo

VIRGO

Virgo is one of the twelve constellations of the zodiac, prominent in the northern sky in springtime. It is one of the 48 constellations described by the 2nd century AD astronomer Ptolemy. It remains one of the 88 modern constellations today.

Its name is Latin for “Maiden,” and its astronomical symbol is ♍︎. It is the second-largest constellation in the sky, and the largest constellation in the zodiac. It can be easily found through its brightest star, Spica.

On the EartHeaven Calendar…

Along its annual ecliptic path, the Sun enters Virgo on the first day of October (the 8th month on the EHc). This is because the EartHeaven calendar has been adjusted and realigned to reflect contemporary Geo-Astro-Solar realities. It falls within the Season of Diamonds/water, the third quarter (weeks 27-39) of the EHc solar year (comprising September/Leo, October/Virgo, November/Libra). ✨
