And, a Happy Equinox to all residents of planet Earth…
(First, did I mention we published our EHc white paper (🎉) and have circulated it for review by a handful of government leaders and scientists? It’s now available in print, as well as a free download.)
We’ve been so busy, it seems the ol’ wheel of time has been spinning a bit too fast of late, but it just wouldn’t be right to let the September Equinox pass us by without a mention…. After all, it marks the half-way point of the Sun’s journey through the heavens (from our vantage point, here on Earth), as it travels along its annual ecliptic path. ☀️
It’s also 1 September, World Earth Day, on the EartHeaven calendar ( EHc). 🌎
So, to save some time, I’m going to be practical (super lazy?? 😜) and combine and repost two shorter pieces from a man who knows his way around the heavens, Astro-physicist extraordinaire, Neil deGrasse Tyson:
“A Happy Equinox (Latin for “equal night”) to all residents of planet Earth. In this moment, Earth’s rotation axis tilts neither toward nor away from the Sun, resulting in equal-length daylight and nighttime for everybody.” 🌌
BUT DID YOU ALSO KNOW THIS BIT OF SCIENCE?: 🧐
According to Tyson, “During the Equinox we all actually receive a few minutes more than 12 hours of daylight, unearned because Earth’s atmosphere refracts sunlight from the vacuum of space creating the illusion of a slightly earlier sunrise and a slightly later sunset.” 🔭
How cool is that? The more you know… 😎
(Oh, and did you notice: Tyson’s phone case happens to be the very same Starry Night scene from van Gogh we feature on our white paper! 💛✨)
